A specific date for Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Turkey for talks with the leader of that country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has not yet been agreed upon, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The two leaders did talk about possible options at the end of February, other dates," the Kremlin spokesman said in response to a question about when Putin's visit to Turkey might take place.

According to Peskov, both sides are interested in the meeting taking place "as soon as the epidemiological situation and schedules of the two presidents allow." "There are no exact dates yet. But we hope it will happen as soon as possible," the Kremlin spokesman added.

On January 26, Erdogan said he had invited the Russian leader to visit Turkey. He also reiterated Ankara's readiness "if both sides agree" to host the presidents of Russia and Ukraine so that they could "continue their journey to restore the atmosphere of peace."

Peskov confirmed that Putin gratefully accepted the invitation. At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman pointed out that Erdogan's offer was specifically about bilateral contacts.

On Thursday, the Turkish president also expressed hope that the Russian leader would visit the republic after his trip to China. On February 4, Putin will attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
