There is no connection between the attack of a teenager on police officers in Tatarstan and the attack on parishioners of a church in Nice, press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov told reporters. According to him, the nature of the crimes is absolutely different.
"In France, the events are French events. Here - one of the crimes, absolutely such a criminal offense. What is the connection here?" - he said, answering the question of journalists on Friday, whether the Kremlin considers what happened in Tatarstan to be related to the events in
Nice.
According to Peskov, in what happened in Tatarstan he sees "some criminal traces". "In fact, absolutely such a criminal crime. Surely there will be investigative actions there, but in my opinion, everything is quite obvious," he said, noting that the Kremlin is not an investigative body and the details of the case are unknown to him. "Here it's not a matter of religion or confession, but of the current legislation," Peskov continued. "If you commit a crime, then the law punishes you. Absolutely, the punishment should be inevitable," he stressed. "At the same time, there are quite unambiguous laws in Russia that do not allow you to commit acts that can offend the feelings of believers. This is where we come from," the president's spokesman concluded, answering the question of whether a wave of extremist crimes is expected in Russia after the French events.
At the same time, Peskov did not evaluate the actions of the Moscow police, which did not allow them to deploy posters in support of journalists or stand in solitary pickets, but reacted quite calmly to the rallies held at the French Embassy. "Here I can't tell you anything, it is necessary to address the Moscow authorities and Moscow law enforcement officers," said the Kremlin representative.

According to IC Russia, on Friday night in Kukmor (Tatarstan), a 16-year-old boy tried to set fire to the building of the district police department using an incendiary mixture. Later, during his detention, he stabbed a policeman several times. Another policeman, after warning shots in the air, was forced to shoot to kill him. The young man died before the doctors arrived. A criminal case was opened on charges of an attempted terrorist attack and an attempt on the lives of law enforcement officers.
On October 29 a man armed with a knife attacked parishioners of Notre Dame cathedral in the center of Nice. As a result, three people were killed and the attacker was detained. The National anti-terrorist office of France joined the investigation of the attack. French National Assembly deputy Eric Chiotti said the attacker is a Tunisian who recently arrived in France. Two hours after the emergency in Nice, another intruder threatened passers-by with a knife in the streets of Avignon and was shot dead while attempting to attack the police. Also on the same day, in the Saudi city of Jeddah, a local man attacked a guard at the French consulate with a knife; the police detained him at the crime scene.
