Washington has not asked Moscow for help in investigating the terrorist attack near Kabul airport, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"In order to help someone, you need someone to ask. I'm not aware of any appeals from the Americans in this regard," the Kremlin spokesman said when asked if Russia was ready to assist the United States in investigating the terrorist attack.
Peskov found it difficult to answer a question about how high the threat of a terrorist threat spreading beyond Afghanistan, according to Russian intelligence. "I can't say exactly. Of course, all special services are now working day and night, monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and forecasting possible developments," he said.
The Kremlin spokesman also refused to answer the question of whether the Russian special services had any information about the preparation of the terrorist act in Kabul. "I'll leave this question unanswered, too. There were widely broadcast predictions by special services of different countries that such terrorist attacks are possible within a few days," the Russian leader's spokesman added.
In addition, he was asked if Russian President Vladimir Putin was planning a public address in connection with the situation in Afghanistan. "No, the president has no such plans, because Russia is not a member of the US-led coalition, which has been in Afghanistan for the past decades and which has completed the withdrawal of its troops, which provoked such a situation," Peskov said.
