People of Kyrgyzstan should be more active in spreading information about the deeds of their ancestors and study the unknown events in the history of their people. President Sadyr Zhaparov said this on Monday in an address to the people on the occasion of Days of History and Commemoration of Ancestors.
"Today we remember our history and the ancestors who shed their blood for independence, our fathers who became victims of a totalitarian regime for dreams of freedom, and the young men who most recently died heroically on the border for the integrity of our country. We must continue our efforts to spread the information about their heroic deeds and to thoroughly study the unknown pages of our history," the head of state said.
According to him, the Kyrgyz people have gone through "enormous ordeals" on its historical path. "Of course, there have been moments of downs and ups," Zhaparov believes. Many nations, in his view, faced "severe disasters, ceased to exist, remaining only in the pages of books."
"But the Kyrgyz people, who from ancient times cherished their independence, who firmly held the sign of statehood, who were always able to repel invasions of enemies and worthily defended their national interests, who preserved and passed on to descendants the traditional national values and knowledge, which were the spiritual core of the nation - continues to live. This is our great history that we can be proud of," assured the Kyrgyz leader.
Days of History and Commemoration of Ancestors has been celebrated in Kyrgyzstan on November 7-8 since 2017. Five years ago, the relevant decree was signed by the country's former president Almazbek Atambayev. Until the early 1990s, November 7 was the Day of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
