On the eve of the opening ceremony of the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who heads the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World", met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia, Botirjon Asadov, who spoke in favor of increasing the trade turnover of the two republics three times.
This was at a briefing in the Government House, the official representative of the Kazan Kremlin Lilia Galimova said.
“Over the past year, foreign trade turnover amounted to $ 146 million, which is more than 50% higher than in 2017. However, these figures, according to Rustam Minnikhanov, are not the limit. He suggested strengthening this work, exploring this nomenclature in more detail and focusing on it, ”Galimova noted in particular.
The most promising areas of cooperation between two republics, as noted, are tire production and development of oil fields in Uzbekistan with the participation of Tatarstan.
