Russian and Azerbaijani presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev had a telephone conversation. The Russian leader congratulated his colleague on his birthday – today Aliyev is celebrating his 58th birthday.
"During the telephone conversation, Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Ilham Aliyev on his birthday. The parties touched on certain current issues of bilateral interaction," the message reads.
Earlier, the Russian President sent a message of congratulations to the President of Azerbaijan, where he noted his contribution to the strategic partnership between Moscow and Baku.
“Under Aliyev's leadership, Azerbaijan is moving confidently along the path of its socioeconomic development, strengthening its position on the international arena," the telegram reads.
