Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone talks, the main topic of which was to increase joint efforts to combat the coronavirus, the situation in Syria, as well as cooperation in energy and other areas.
"The discussion focused on a range of issues related to the spread of the coronavirus. They expressed their preparedness to build up joint efforts in the fight against the infection, including through the health ministries and other relevant agencies, " the Kremlin's website reports.
The leaders also agreed to "continue close coordination to ensure the return of Russian and Turkish citizens to their homelands".
The presidents of Russia and Turkey had a detailed exchange of views on developments in Syria, including the implementation of agreements on the Idlib de-escalation zone.
"The need for unconditional compliance with the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic was reaffirmed At the same time, the presidents emphasised the importance of further close cooperation between Russia and Turkey through military and diplomatic channels," the message reads.
In addition, Putin and Erdogan touched upon current issues of Russian-Turkish cooperation, "including the implementation of joint projects in the nuclear energy sector, and the expansion of cooperation in the agriculture and transport."
