Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan agreed to continue cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The main topic of discussion, as reported in the Kremlin, was the situation around the coronavirus and cooperation between the two countries in the fight against the pandemic.


It is noted that the conversation was held at the Uzbek side’s initiative.


"During the discussion about the coronavirus pandemic, the presidents praised the assistance in combatting the spread of the infection that Russia and Uzbekistan provide to each other.  They reaffirmed their intention to maintain close cooperation in this area," the message reads.


Some other topical issues regarding bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were also discussed.
