Presidents of Russia and Venezuela discussed the state of the world oil market and the coronavirus

Russian and Venezuelan presidents Vladimir Putin and Nicolas Maduro held telephone talks, the main topic of which was the situation on the world oil market.


The heads of state, as reported by the Kremlin's press service, "stressed the great importance of the agreement reached within the framework of OPEC+ on the agreed reduction of oil production."


Maduro offered to hold a meeting of the Committee to monitor the implementation of the OPEC + agreement on May 10.


Vladimir Putin, in turn, noted the unacceptability of destructive external interference in Venezuelan affairs.


"Russia has confirmed its support for the efforts of the legitimate authorities of Venezuela to peacefully resolve internal political differences based on a national dialogue. The unacceptability of destructive external interference in Venezuelan affairs is emphasized," the statement reads, in particular.


The two presidents also touched upon topical aspects of further strengthening the Russian-Venezuelan strategic partnership, primarily in the trade and economic sphere.


In addition, they discussed cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus. Nicolas Maduro, in particular, thanked Vladimir Putin for supplying Russian test systems.
