President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov will not participate in the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg, his press secretary Erbol Sultanbayev said on Friday.

"Due to the work schedule, President Zhaparov will not take part in the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg," Sultanbayev said.

According to him, State Secretary Suyunbek Kasmambetov "has been sent to deliver Zhaparov's congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his 70th birthday."

Putin will gather his CIS colleagues at the Konstantinovsky Palace on Friday. There is usually one regular and one informal meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS during the year. As Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted earlier, the October 7 talks will be an important stage of preparation for the CIS summit scheduled for next week in Astana.
