Procedure for Pezeshkian's Confirmation as Iran's President Set for July 28

22 July

The approval ceremony for Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran's president will take place on July 28. During this ceremony, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will sign a decree, marking the official start of Pezeshkian's term. This was announced by Hadi Tahan Nazif, the official spokesman of Iran's Council of Guardians of the Constitution.

"The ceremony of approving the 14th president, which signifies the official commencement of the president-elect's duties, will be held on Sunday, 7 Mordad 1403 (July 28, 2024 -TASS), in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ali Khamenei]," Tahan Nazif stated, according to Fars news agency.

Nazif noted that following the signing of the decree, the president-elect can begin fulfilling some of his responsibilities in accordance with Article 110 of the Iranian Constitution, within the limits defined by Shariah and the constitution.

This mandatory procedure under the Islamic Republic's law precedes the inauguration ceremony. "After the presidential election is held and the results are approved by the relevant body, i.e., the Guardian Council, it prepares a draft decree on the elected president and then hands it over to the supreme leader," Tahan Nazif explained.

On July 10, Iranian parliament presidium member Mojtaba Yousefi stated that Pezeshkian's swearing-in ceremony (inauguration) will be held on July 30 at the Majlis building, following Khamenei's signing of the decree confirming him in office.
