Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov thanked Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag for mediating international legal cooperation between Russia and other countries.

"It was Turkey that became the most important link in the extradition and transit procedures for persons extradited by other states to Russia," Krasnov said at a meeting with Bozdag in Ankara.

The Russian attorney general and justice minister also signed a new program of cooperation between the two agencies for the next two years. According to Krasnov, one of its directions is the fight against information crime, including the criminal use of cryptocurrencies and other virtual assets. "Russia has developed a relevant judicial and investigative practice, legislation on digital assets is being updated, the Central Bank's digital ruble platform is being piloted. We have something to share," said the prosecutor general of the RF.

Speaking of the fight against cybercrime, Krasnov told about the draft universal convention on combating the use of high technology for criminal purposes, submitted to the UN Special Committee last year. "The Russian approach to the document suggests criminalizing the widest range of acts in this sphere, since such technologies are widely used to promote extremist views and attempts to influence political regimes and the minds of ordinary people," he said.

According to the RF prosecutor general, Western countries "reduce the understanding of cybercrime to only a narrow range of computer crimes, which, in our opinion, does not reflect the essence of the problem."
