A group of Iraqis protesting the burning of a copy of the Quran, the holy book for Muslims, in Stockholm stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad on Thursday, Shafaq News reported.
More than a hundred protesters gathered outside the Swedish embassy Thursday, it said. A while ago, a group of protesters managed to "break the gate and enter the territory of the Swedish embassy," located in central Baghdad. There is no information about possible damage to the diplomatic mission.
According to Al Sumria TV, the intruders have already left the embassy. Other Iraqis who took part in the protest picket are also leaving the building. It is stated that the crowd demanded the expulsion of the Swedish ambassador from Iraq in protest against the desecration of one of the shrines of Islam.
