Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev held a telephone conversation in which they discussed the implementation of trilateral agreements on Karabakh and issues of bilateral cooperation, the leaders agreed to continue contacts, the Kremlin press service said on Tuesday.
"The parties reviewed the implementation of the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, with a focus on solving specific issues related to the establishment of peaceful life in the region and strengthening stability, unblocking economic ties and transport communications," the statement said.
Aliyev also informed the Russian leader about his May 22 meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian and European Council President Charles Michel in Brussels, the Kremlin added.
"Some topical aspects of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere were discussed. The mutual intention to further deepen the Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership was confirmed, including taking into account the results of the official visit of the president of Azerbaijan to Moscow in February," the press service of the Russian head of state said in a statement.
The Kremlin noted that the conversation took place at the initiative of the Azerbaijani side, and the leaders agreed to continue regular contacts at various levels.
