Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a telephone conversation summed up the main results of bilateral cooperation and confirmed the mood for further mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and Turkey, the Kremlin press service reported on Sunday.
"Exchanging congratulations on the occasion of the New Year, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan summed up the main results of bilateral cooperation and confirmed the mood for further intensification of mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and Turkey," the statement said. It was agreed to continue personal contacts, the Kremlin added.
Putin and Erdogan in a telephone conversation touched on such topics as proposals to work out legally formalized agreements guaranteeing Russia's security, the situation in the Transcaucasus, settlement issues in Syria and Libya. "They also touched upon international topics, including well-known proposals to work out legally formalized agreements guaranteeing the security of the Russian Federation, the situation in the Transcaucasus, the issues of the Syrian and Libyan settlements," the report said.
The Turkish leader's office said the presidents' talks focused on steps to improve Turkish-Russian relations. "They discussed regional issues and international developments, particularly in the Caucasus, Syria and Libya. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying Turkish-Russian cooperation in all areas," the office said in a statement.
