Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev have discussed the deepening cooperation and allied relations between Moscow and Tashkent. The Kremlin press service reported that the conversation, initiated by the Uzbek side, covered key issues in their dynamic bilateral cooperation.
"The leaders addressed the rapidly evolving cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their alliance and strategic partnership," the press service stated. They also discussed current international and regional issues, particularly in light of Russia's presidency in the BRICS association.
According to the Kremlin, Putin and Mirziyoyev agreed to continue their dialogue. The previous conversation between the leaders occurred on July 24, coinciding with the Uzbekistan president’s birthday, during which they also emphasized their dedication to advancing their strategic partnership.
Putin and Mirziyoyev maintain a close relationship and frequently communicate to address pressing bilateral matters.
