Putin and Mirziyoyev to discuss strengthening of union relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will discuss the strengthening of allied relations between the two countries, issues of regional and bilateral agenda during the Russian leader's upcoming visit to Samarkand for the SCO summit. A statement by the press service of the leader of Uzbekistan, published on his website on Monday, reads.


At the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Uzbekistan on September 15-16 this year as part of the program of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in the city of Samarkand, the press service of the Uzbek leader said. "The agenda of bilateral talks between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia includes issues of further strengthening relations of strategic partnership and alliance, building up trade and economic, investment and cultural and humanitarian cooperation," the report said.


Special attention will be paid to the expansion of industrial cooperation, activation of interregional and business contacts, promotion of joint economic projects and humanitarian programs, the press service of the president of Uzbekistan reported. "Along with this, the two heads of state will exchange views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda," the report said.


Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other foreign leaders on the margins of the upcoming SCO summit on September 15-16, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said earlier at a briefing.
