Putin and Mirziyoyev to Participate in First Meeting of Russia-Uzbekistan Council of Regions

24 May

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the inaugural meeting of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan. This event will be part of Putin's state visit to Uzbekistan, scheduled for May 26-27, as reported by the Kremlin press service.

During this visit, the two leaders will discuss "the current state and prospects for further development of Russian-Uzbek relations of strategic partnership and alliance." Additionally, they will exchange views on pressing regional issues.

The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of a substantial package of bilateral agreements, underscoring the strong ties between the two nations.

Despite the high diplomatic status of the visit, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov indicated that Putin's visit will be limited to the Uzbek capital, Tashkent. The first official engagements are scheduled for the evening of May 26.
