During the meeting in Sochi Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have reaffirmed the priority tasks of restoring Russian-American relations and jointly resolving issues of mutual interest.
As the Head of the Russian state has mentioned, Russia and the United States have common goals both in a global sense and in bilateral relations.
“I hope that today the situation is changing, and common interests in the field of maintaining strategic stability, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, resolving regional crises, fighting organized crime, fighting to solve environmental problems, world poverty, other modern threats, and in fact, some issues of an economic nature”, the Kremlin’s press service quotes Putin.
Pompeo, in turn, has also expressed confidence that the United States and Russia can cooperate on a variety of issues.
“We can work together to ensure that all our peoples live more successfully and the whole world in a general sense also succeeds. We can cooperate on North Korea, on Afghanistan, as well as on other issues, and we can also talk about strategic dialogue”, Pompeo emphasized.
