Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Discuss Bilateral Ties and Global Energy Market

On March 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Kremlin’s press service reported.

 

Putin extended his congratulations to the Saudi leadership and people on the holy month of Ramadan, also sending well wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Both sides acknowledged the strong cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties in a friendly and constructive manner.

 

The conversation touched on key aspects of the Russian-Saudi partnership within the OPEC+ framework. The leaders emphasized the importance of the alliance in maintaining stability in the global oil market and balancing supply and demand in the interests of both producers and consumers. The Kremlin noted that both Russia and Saudi Arabia remain committed to fulfilling their OPEC+ obligations.

 

Additionally, the Saudi Crown Prince expressed his willingness to support efforts aimed at improving relations between Moscow and Washington.

 

“Given the recent international engagements hosted by Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman highlighted the importance of resolving the Ukraine crisis and reaffirmed his readiness to facilitate the normalization of Russian-American relations,” the statement said.

 

Putin, in turn, praised Riyadh’s mediation efforts and expressed gratitude for its role in hosting the February 18 talks between Russian and US representatives in the Saudi capital.
