Russian President Vladimir Putin and king of Bahrain Hamad al-Khalifa discussed the political settlement of the Syrian crisis, bilateral cooperation and the fight against the coronavirus, the Kremlin's press service reports.
It is noted that the conversation was initiated by the Bahraini side.
"The parties touched upon issue of political settlement of the Syrian crisis, including the results of the recent videoconference of the heads of state-guarantors of the Astana process," the message reads.
"Topical issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields and cooperation in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus were discussed," the Kremlin added.
The king of Bahrain also congratulated the Russian President on the success of the all-Russian vote on approving changes to the Constitution.
"The king of Bahrain congratulated the President of Russia and the Russian people on the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war, as well as on the successful holding of the all - Russian vote on approving changes to the Constitution of the Russian Federation," the message reads.
Voting on amendments to the basic law was held from June 25 to July 1. After processing 100% of the protocols, the final turnout of voting participants was 67.97%. 77.92% (almost 58 million Russians) voted for the amendments, while 21.27% (about 16 million people) voted against them. They came into force on July 4. References to God, marriage and historical memory are reflected in the basic law along with other social, cultural and political amendments that promise to strengthen the country's sovereignty and promote its further development.
