On Thursday, Russian president Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyz president Sadyr Zhaparov discussed by telephone the state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries, the press service of the Kyrgyz head of state reports.
"The leaders of the countries discussed topical aspects of Kyrgyz-Russian bilateral cooperation, the state and prospects for the development of mutually beneficial relations in various fields," the report said.
Zhaparov congratulated the Russian president on his birthday and wished him "good health, long life, and further successes in responsible state activity."
According to the press service, the Kyrgyz president praised "the interaction of the countries based on strong traditions of historical friendship and mutual respect, emphasizing the great personal contribution of Vladimir Putin in this matter".
Zhaparov also congratulated the Russian leader on the successful elections to the State Duma and expressed confidence that "its future activities will be aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary ties with Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan)".
The Russian president thanked for the congratulations and also "stressed the readiness of the Russian side to continue to build up mutually beneficial cooperation on all issues of joint agenda," the press service said.
