Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Alexei Popov as Russia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Sierra Leone. The corresponding decree of the head of state was published on the official portal of legal information.
At the end of June, Putin appointed Popov as Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea, and he will perform his new duties part-time.
Previously, Vadim Razumovsky was Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea and concurrently to Sierra Leone.
Popov was born in 1961. He holds the diplomatic rank of envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the second class, and since 2015 has served as consul general in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Since 2021, he has been deputy director of the human resources department of the Russian MFA.
