Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held a phone conversation, delving into the pressing issues surrounding the unprecedented escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, particularly in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the Kremlin's press service.

During the exchange of views, Putin conveyed to Abbas the specific measures taken by the Russian side to facilitate de-escalation in the Gaza Strip. The Kremlin's statement highlighted that, "Taking into account the contacts held with the leaders of Middle Eastern states, Vladimir Putin informed about the steps taken by the Russian side to promote de-escalation of the conflict and ensure uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need." Additionally, the statement emphasized Russia's commitment to supplying essential goods, including medicines and medical equipment, to the Gaza Strip.

Both leaders advocated for a prompt end to the bloodshed in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and the resumption of a political settlement. The statement underscored, "The importance of an early cessation of bloodshed and the resumption of the political process of Middle East settlement on a universally recognized international legal basis, providing for the establishment of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, was emphasized." Furthermore, Putin expressed support for Abbas' initiatives to resolve the conflict with Israel based on the UN two-state formula.

The leaders also expressed mutual determination to enhance friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, stating, "A mutual mood for further strengthening of friendly Russian-Palestinian relations was expressed."
