Russian President Vladimir Putin is confident that trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan will continue to grow, particularly in the areas of industrial cooperation and high technologies.

During talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Putin emphasized that one of his first visits after assuming office for a new term and forming a government is to Tashkent, accompanied by a representative delegation. "This emphasizes the special nature of our strategic partnership and allied relations," Putin noted.

The Russian president highlighted the impressive pace of economic ties development, citing data from the Uzbek side showing a trade turnover growth of about 30% last year. "According to our statistics, it's a bit less, but overall, we hold a 15.5% share in your trade turnover. This is a good result, and I am confident there will be more growth. For the first quarter of this year, even our strict statistics show a growth of over 20%," Putin stated. He described this as a "decent, very good result."

Putin commended the efforts of the Uzbek government in diversifying trade and economic ties, particularly in industrial cooperation and high technologies. He noted that traditional areas of cooperation are also being maintained and developed at a good pace.

Putin also stressed the importance of regional cooperation, stating, "The main thing is not to hinder people, to create conditions, and we will try to do this, certainly in Russia." He acknowledged that Uzbekistan shares a similar attitude. The Russian president believes that the Forum of Regions will contribute to the development of trade, economic, and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
