Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Muslims on the holiday of Uraza Bayram, the Kremlin press service reported.
The Muslim holiday of Uraza Bayram in 2021 falls on May 13.
"The holy month of Ramadan is over, and Russian Muslims are joyfully welcoming the bright, long-awaited holiday. Since time immemorial, Eid al-Fitr is celebrated for acts of kindness and care for the needy and embodies people's striving for self-improvement," the president said.
Putin added that followers of Islam in Russia respect the historical, religious and cultural traditions of their ancestors and pass them on from generation to generation.
"Muslim organizations actively participate in the life of the country, strengthen cooperation with state and public structures, and pay tireless attention to charitable, educational and enlightenment initiatives. And, of course, I will especially note their demanded, truly selfless activity, which in the current difficult time helps people to endure, to cope with difficulties," the words of the head of state are quoted in the message.
