Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday congratulated his colleague Sooronbay Jeenbekov on the Kyrgyzstan’s national holiday – Independence Day, the Kremlin's press service reports.
"Relations between our countries are developing in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. Bilateral political dialogue, fruitful cooperation in various fields, and coordination of efforts within the framework of the EurAsEC, CSTO, and SCO are expanding," the Russian leader said in a congratulatory telegram.
Putin also expressed confidence that Russia and Kyrgyzstan would work together to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in the fight against threats and challenges to international security, including the coronavirus pandemic. "This is undoubtedly in the interests of our friendly peoples," the Russian President stressed.
The Declaration of state independence of Kyrgyzstan was adopted on August 31, 1991.
