Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has held a telephone conversation with Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko. During the conversation, the speaker sent birthday greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to his Turkmen counterpart, the official newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan reported.
According to the newspaper, Matviyenko noted Berdimuhamedov's great contribution to the deepening of interstate dialogue based on the principles of good neighborliness, friendship and effective partnership. The sides also stressed the need to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation as an important factor of rapprochement and mutual understanding between the two countries and peoples.
Thanking for the congratulations, Berdimuhamedov noted that the Turkmen people highly appreciate Matviyenko's contribution to the development of bilateral relations. He wished the speaker sound health, prosperity and great successes in her responsible activity.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov turned 66 on June 29.
