Putin congratulates President of Uzbekistan on successful constitutional referendum

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated  President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the success of the constitutional referendum. The telegram in this regards was published on the Kremlin website on Tuesday.

 

"Please accept my sincere congratulations on the success  of the constitutional referendum. The results of the nationwide vote have fully confirmed the broad support for the course you are pursuing to strengthen state institutions, protect the rights of citizens, and ensure the country's sustainable socio-economic development," the Russian leader said.

 

Putin stressed that constitutional reforms in the republic will further enhance relations of strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan.

 

"From the bottom of my heart, I wish you new successes in state activities, as well as good health and well-being," the Russian president added.

 

On April 30, a referendum on amendments to the constitution was held in Uzbekistan. According to the CEC, turnout was 84.5%, and 90.2% of voters supported the change of the fundamental law. Later, the CEC reported that the amendments adopted at the referendum entered into force on May 1.
