Putin Congratulates Tokayev on His Birthday

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory telegram to Kazakhstan's leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his 71st birthday. The message, published on the Kremlin's website, highlights the contribution of President Tokayev to the cooperation between the two nations and their personal friendly relations.

 

"Russia highly appreciates your personal contribution to the development of strategic partnership and alliance between our countries, as well as constructive cooperation within the EAEU, CSTO, CIS, SCO, and other multilateral structures," Putin addressed Tokayev.

 

"I cherish our good, friendly relations," - noted President Putin. - "We will continue to work together for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan."

 

Tokayev has been leading Kazakhstan since 2019, following the resignation of the republic's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Prior to his presidency, Tokayev served as chairman of the Kazakh Senate from 2007 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2019. He has also held the position of the country's prime minister on several occasions. As a seasoned diplomat, Tokayev previously headed Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry and served as the deputy secretary-general of the UN from 2011 to 2012.
