Putin Conveys Condolences to Iraqi Authorities Following al-Hamdaniya Fire

Russian President Vladimir Putin has conveyed his condolences to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani following a tragic fire in the town of al-Hamdaniya, which resulted in numerous casualties.

 

The devastating fire occurred on Wednesday night in a celebration hall in al-Hamdaniya, where a wedding was being held, attended by approximately 1,000 guests, as reported by local police. According to the latest information from Iraq's interior ministry, the incident claimed the lives of 93 people, with over 100 others sustaining injuries.

 

"Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the tragic fire in the city of al-Hamdaniya, which resulted in numerous casualties. It is especially disheartening that this tragedy unfolded during a wedding celebration," reads the telegram, published on the Kremlin website.

 

The Russian leader requested that words of sympathy and support be conveyed to the families and friends of the victims, along with wishes for a swift recovery to all those who were injured.
