Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi discussed the situation in Afghanistan on Wednesday, the Kremlin press service reports following a telephone conversation between the presidents.
"A lot of attention was paid to the events taking place in Afghanistan, and readiness to help establish peace and stability in that country was expressed," the statement said.
This is the first phone conversation between Putin and Raisi, who took office as Iran's president in early August. According to the Kremlin press service, the presidents agreed in their telephone conversation to continue personal contacts.
