Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed by telephone with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the fight against coronavirus and the organization of production of vaccines on the territory of Uzbekistan, the Kremlin press service reported.
"The parties discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda with a focus on trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to further enhancing joint efforts to combat the pandemic coronavirus, including the organization of vaccine production on the territory of Uzbekistan," the report said.
In addition, the heads of states exchanged congratulations in connection with the 76th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
"The special importance of this date for the peoples of both countries, who cherish the memory of the unprecedented feat of frontline soldiers and home front workers was emphasized," the statement added.
Also, satisfaction was expressed over the progressive development of Russian-Uzbek relations of strategic partnership and alliance.
"While discussing the situation in the Central Asian region, including in light of recent events on the Tajikistan-Kyrgyz border, the presidents welcomed the agreements between Dushanbe and Bishkek on resolving the conflict by political and diplomatic means, confirming their willingness to fully assist in further stabilizing the situation," the report says.
