Today, the Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. As the Kremlin spokesman told reporters, the situation in Syria was a central topic of discussion.
«It was noted that the highly unstable and tension-prone situation in the region should not by provoked by ill-considered actions and statements by countries directly related to the settlement process», RIA Novosti quotes Peskov’s, in particular.
It’s also noted that during the meeting, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported on a trip to Syria and contacts with President of the Republic Bashar al-Assad, which dealt with bilateral relations between Russia and Syria.
