Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to the Kremlin press service on Thursday, the topic of the conversations was the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Developments in the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed with a focus on solving practical tasks to ensure security and stability in the region. The importance of consistent implementation of all the provisions of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, was confirmed," the text of the message reads.

It is noted that the leaders agreed on further contacts.

On March 26, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Azerbaijani troops entered the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. On Sunday evening, the Russian defense ministry said that Azerbaijan withdrew its troops from the settlement of Farukh (Parukh) of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The situation around Nagorno-Karabakh escalated on September 27, 2020, when active hostilities began there. On November 9, a trilateral statement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which achieved a complete cessation of hostilities in the conflict zone. It stipulated that the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides halted their positions, a number of areas came under Baku's control, and Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the line of contact and the Lachin corridor.
