Putin discusses Russian COVID-19 vaccine with President of Uzbekistan

Russian President Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed preparations for the CIS summit and the fight against coronavirus, including the use of Russian vaccine, the Kremlin's press office said Monday.


"The presidents discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State to be held in a videoconference format in December and chaired by Uzbekistan," the Kremlin said.


They touched upon a number of important items on the bilateral and regional agenda and reiterated mutual commitment to further strengthening the Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance, with an emphasis on expanding trade and economic ties.

 

In addition, special attention was paid to combating the spread of the coronavirus, including the use of the Russian-made vaccine.


The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia noted with deep satisfaction the stable dynamics in the development of bilateral trade and economic relations in the conditions of the global crisis caused by coronavirus pandemic,  the press service of the Uzbek leader reports.


"In particular, mutual visits are actively carried out, joint intergovernmental commission and other mechanisms of interaction are working fruitfully. The volume of mutual trade is growing, implementation of priority industrial cooperation projects in various sectors of the economy, as well as humanitarian exchange programs, continue," the reports reads. The presidents also exchanged views on international agenda issues, discussed the schedule of upcoming events at the highest level.
