Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, expressed hope that a big amount of products under the grain deal will be sent to the poorest countries.
"I would like to thank you again for the contribution you are making and have made to the food program, I mean the export of Ukrainian grain. Let's hope, indeed, that a significant part of it - so far this has not been achieved - will still be sent to the UN food program for the poorest countries," the Russian leader said during a meeting at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
At the same time, Putin continued, Russia also sells a significant amount of grain. "I would like to inform you, too: our economic operators have received a corresponding signal that they can export our products through Turkey, too. Keeping in mind that Turkey is a reliable partner in this regard and can ensure confident deliveries through its territory to all countries of the world," the Russian president said.
Putin added that this includes countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. "Because that's where we mainly sell to," the Russian head of state noted.
