Russian President Vladimir Putin sees prospects in the development of relations with Kazakhstan.
"I hope that, as in previous years, we will use the potential of interaction between Russia and Kazakhstan first of all, of course, on the economic track," the head of state said at talks with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Putin noted that he was pleased to state the fact "that Russia is Kazakhstan's largest trade and economic partner." "Last year, our trade turnover grew by more than 34% - $26.5 billion, a very good indicator," the Russian leader cited data.
He stressed that the two countries are actively cooperating in the post-Soviet space and in major international organizations.
Putin reminded that 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two states will be celebrated soon and a series of events are scheduled for that date. "I am sure that they will benefit the development of our business and humanitarian ties. We have things to work on, we have major projects in space, energy and engineering," the Russian president said, specifying that "the total volume of Russian investments [amounts] to $18 billion."
"So we will keep working," Putin assured.
