Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at the Kremlin the previous evening.
"Dear Mr. President, very glad to see you," Putin greeted al-Assad, adding, "We have an opportunity to talk about the whole range of our relations. We have not seen each other for a long time already."
The last in-person meeting between the Russian and Syrian leaders took place at the Kremlin on March 15, 2023, with their discussions lasting three hours. Additionally, Putin and al-Assad had a phone conversation on March 23 of this year, during which the Syrian president condemned the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, expressing solidarity with the Russian people.
