12 September 2019

Common moral and ethical values of all traditional religions of Russia are the key to the stability of the state, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the conversation with Dagestani militias who participated in the battles with terrorists in August-September 1999.

"We are a multi-confessional country, but if to look closely, the values of all our religions are the same. As for the moral and ethical component, they are almost all the same. The fact that our peoples have such an attitude to these values is the main guarantee of our state stability," the head of the state noted in particular.

Putin also reminded that in recent years about 2 thousand mosques have been built in Dagestan.

These days Dagestan celebrates the 20th anniversary of the invasion of the Republic by terrorist groups under the command of Shamil Basayev and Khattab from Chechnya and their defeat.

Those days, according to the Russian FSB, more than 280 soldiers, security forces and civilians were killed and more than 800 were injured.

More than 70 people were convicted of the attack on Dagestan. Seven people, including Basayev and Khattab, were killed.
