Putin sends greetings to participants of GSV "Russia-Islamic World"

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a greeting to the participants of the events of the Group of the Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World" on the occasion of the opening of the meeting. The telegram was published Wednesday on the Kremlin website.


"Russia attaches great importance to the development of friendly ties with Muslim countries both bilaterally and through dialogue with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It is important that our positions on many topical issues of the regional and global agenda are very close. We stand together for the building of a fair democratic world order based on the rule of law and the peaceful coexistence of states, free of coercive diktat and all forms of discrimination," the president said.


Putin noted that ways of cooperation in the resolution of regional conflicts and crises, combating of international terrorist and extremist threats as well as cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technological, humanitarian and other spheres will be discussed at the session.


The Russian leader hopes that joint work will be constructive and fruitful and will serve to strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of the countries. He also thanked Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his personal attention to the organization of the meeting.


The Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" was established in 2006 after Russia joined the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as an observer. This time the group is meeting in Saudi Arabia.
