Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the country's Muslims on Eid al-Fitr holiday. According to the President, Uraza-bairam directs believers to the high moral and spiritual values of Islam, to customs and traditions of their ancestors, encourages compassion and goodness, care for those who need support and help.
Vladimir Putin noted the role of Russian Muslim organizations in the development of public life in the country.
“I’m deeply pleased that Muslim organizations make a worthy contribution to the development of inter-religious and inter-ethnic dialogue, the unity of the nationalities of Russia, consistently and resolutely oppose manifestations of religious intolerance and extremism,” President said.
At the same time, Putin claimed that interaction with state structures is being strengthened, great attention is paid to educational and charitable initiatives. As Russian President pointed out, Muslim community of Russia will continue to take an active part in the life of the country, “contribute to the preservation of our invaluable historical, cultural, spiritual heritage,” writes Interfax-religion.
