The presence of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh has improved the humanitarian situation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"For more than a year our peacekeepers have helped maintain stability in Nagorno-Karabakh. Thanks largely to their efforts, the humanitarian situation has improved, a number of districts have been demined, social infrastructure has been restored, and historical and cultural monuments have been preserved," he said at an expanded meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Putin thanked the personnel carrying out peacekeeping operations for their professionalism, endurance and tenacity.
