Russian President Vladimir Putin gave warm New Year's greetings to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The text of the Russian leader's congratulations to a number of foreign counterparts was published on the Kremlin website on Friday.

 

"The Russian president warmly congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey on the coming New Year, focusing on the fact that mutually beneficial ties between Russia and Turkey are developing very dynamically despite the complicated international situation," the statement said.

 

Putin stated that this year it was possible "to significantly expand bilateral cooperation in many spheres, the largest joint projects designed to ensure long-term regional energy security are being successfully implemented: construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and creation of a regional gas hub in Turkey." "The Russian leader also expressed his conviction that by acting together, the countries will be able to ensure further build-up of the entire complex of Russian-Turkish cooperation for the benefit of the peoples, in the interests of strengthening stability and security on the Eurasian continent," the report said.
