In his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined Russia's strategy for seeking new points of contact with partners in the Middle East and Latin America.
"Russia has long-standing, good relations with the Arab states, representing a distinctive civilization from North Africa to the Middle East, which is dynamically developing today. And we believe it is important to seek new points of contact with our Arab friends, to deepen the whole range of partnership ties. We will do the same in the Latin American direction," Putin emphasized.
He highlighted the positive development of the Russia-ASEAN dialog and the success of the Russia-Africa summits, which he described as a "real breakthrough."
Putin expressed his support for the African continent's aspirations for genuine sovereignty and its increasingly vocal declaration of its interests.
"We cooperate with partners on the principles of equality, respect for each other's interests, and that is why new and new states are actively joining the work of the EAEU, SCO, BRICS, and other associations with Russia's participation," Putin noted.
He concluded by expressing optimism about the prospects for building the Greater Eurasian Partnership and integrating processes within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and China's Belt and Road initiative.
