Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to meet with Iran's President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan this October. Dmitry Peskov, the Russian presidential spokesman, confirmed that the Iranian side has a valid invitation for the event.
"The Iranian side already has a valid invitation, and we hope that the new president will come to the summit. We will be happy to see him, and President Putin is preparing for the upcoming contact," Peskov told Izvestia.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko previously informed TASS that Russia and Iran have finalized a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that is expected to be signed soon.
According to IRNA, the new Iranian president expressed his readiness to sign the treaty during a phone conversation with Putin, aiming to finalize the agreement at the BRICS summit in Kazan in October.
