Russia is grateful to Algeria for its readiness to mediate in the Ukrainian settlement. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this following talks with his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
"Given that Algeria is a member of the Arab League contact group on Ukraine, for my part, I presented to my Algerian counterpart the Russian vision of the root causes of the conflict and assessments of the current situation," Putin said, noting that he and Tebboune "spoke in details" on this topic.
"We are grateful to Algeria and its president for his willingness to provide some mediation services," Putin added.
Putin also confirmed that on Saturday, June 17, he plans to "receive a delegation of heads and high-ranking representatives of several African countries to discuss the initiative put forward by the states of the continent on the Ukrainian issue."
