Putin recalled the invitation to the Emir of Qatar to visit Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled the invitation to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to visit Russia and expressed confidence that the visit would take place.


"The Emir has the invitation to visit Russia, which the sides will definitely implement," Putin said on Tuesday at the ceremony of presenting credentials to foreign ambassadors in the Kremlin, noting that he maintains "very good personal contacts" with the Emir.


He called the agenda of interaction between Russia and Qatar rich, pointing to the development of an investment partnership, "joint efforts to more fully unlock the existing potential of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere."


A representative delegation from Qatar will take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 2-5, Putin added. He also noted that Russia is working closely with Qatar on the organization and hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
