The majority of the world is becoming increasingly weary of the Western pressure and manipulations, and is now inclined towards embracing equitable cooperation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during his virtual participation in a meeting within the BRICS plus/outreach format.
Putin emphasized that BRICS is currently directing its attention towards Africa.
"In Russia, we are pleased with this direction; we consider it right," he remarked, also recalling his recent engagements with numerous African leaders in St. Petersburg during the Russia-Africa summit.
The president also highlighted that the city of St. Petersburg reaffirmed the strengthening bonds of friendship and close, mutually beneficial relations between Russia and Africa. He pointed out that these ties have their roots in the mid-20th century, during the period when the peoples of Africa were striving for their freedom.
"We greatly value the warm regard that African countries hold for the people of Russia. In return, Russia is genuinely committed to further enhancing our multifaceted connections with the African continent. We will actively foster these relationships in practical terms and carry out new collaborative endeavors across various domains," assured the Russian head of state.
