Putin: responsibility for the global food crisis lies with the collective West

27 September 2022

Sanctions on exports of Russian grain and fertilizers threaten a global food crisis, the responsibility for this lies with the collective West, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday at a meeting on the course of the seasonal field work.

"Unfortunately, the supply of our grain and fertilizers abroad is still hindered, not even for us, but for the global food market," said the head of state.

According to him, "sanctions against Russia threaten to further worsen the situation, the global food crisis, which the world has been heading towards for several years."

"This is completely unrelated to Russia's special military operation in Donbass," Putin stressed. "Some leading countries have built the policy in the sphere of finance and food in such a way that we are seeing the result that we have today. And the responsibility for it, of course, lies entirely with the so-called collective West," he concluded.
